Feb. 17: Back to Buenos Aires

****************

Tuesday, Feb. 17

This was an early start day from the git-go. Gabo arranged for our breakfast room to be open at 5:45 and “bags out front” was set for the same time. We boarded the bus at 6:15 and headed for Calafate International Airport.

The entire day went exactly as planned, arrived Buenos Aires, bus to hotel, day rooms were arranged by OAT and Gabo, and we had free time until 5:00. I hit up a Farmacia for some backup cold medicine for the long flights ahead, and then headed for the pizza joint the group had eaten at on our first night together.

After a couple of terrific empanadas, it was back to the hotel for a quick nap, and to make sure everything was in place for the upcoming travel. At 5, we all kissed Gabo (and his wife Nazarena) and each other goodbye in front of Loi Suites Recoleta (a great place to stay, BTW) and boarded our final bus ride of the adventure.

It was a longer than necessary wait at EZE, but OAT leaves plenty of room for any needed adjustments. Security and passport control was easy, and we were able to use one of the lounges with my Priority Pass. That helped to pass the time.

The rest was also easy: American Airlines from Buenos Aires to Dallas to Phoenix. No muss, no fuss. Luggage showed up and I was home in Saddlebrooke by about 2:30 Tucson time, so about 25 hours passed door to door.

It was a really great trip, and I hope to do a “look back wrap up” within the next couple of days.

For those of you that have been following, thanks so much, hope you enjoyed riding along.
